Building Machines¶
This activity can be seen as an extension of the Pictures exercise: instead of a static image, the group creates a looped movement.
A Machine for...¶
Groups have 10 minutes to build a machine with a specific purpose, such as:
- hammering nails
- cleaning the world
- connecting things
- bouncing
- writing letters
Props are used.
A Circus Machine¶
Groups have 10 minutes to build a machine and incorporate specific rules, such as:
- a minimum of 5 balls, 2 hoops, and 1 scarf must be used
- at least one object must move from bottom to top
- a more difficult variation: spiral movement
- within one cycle of the machine's operation, there must be 3 throws and 1 roll
- each mode of the machine must include 2 squats during its operation
The possibilities for rules are limited only by the imagination of the group and the facilitator.
