The Circus Comes to Town
Brief Description
A themed interactive game that combines circus commands with movements and a lion-catching phase.
Group Size: 10-40 people
Difficulty: Easy
Materials: Mat, marked areas
Game Duration: 5-15 minutes
Game Description:¶
An interactive game for medium to large groups of children.
Various commands are briefly explained:
- "The circus is coming to town" --> Everyone shouts "Hooray!" loudly and throws their arms in the air.
- "There's popcorn" --> Everyone jumps in place and shouts "Pop Pop Pop Pop."
- "There's cotton candy" --> Everyone spins around.
- "There are sausages" --> Everyone lies on the floor and rolls back and forth.
- "The acrobats are here" --> Everyone does jumping jacks.
- "The clowns are here"
This list can be expanded or changed as desired.
The "final station" is important:
- "The lions are being fed" --> Everyone goes to the lion enclosure and feeds the lions.
- "The lions are loose!" --> The lions break out and try to catch the children. Caught children also become lions. There is a safe area, as far away as possible, where the children can escape.
Initially, one or more lions are designated (preferably adults/trainers, but a few children can also be chosen).
The game is well-suited for large groups if there is enough space.
Variations:¶
The basic principle is also well-suited for thematic variations.
Instead of a circus with different stations, you could use, for example, a pirate crew, a Native American village, etc.
