The Stomping Bank
Short Description
A reaction game played on the floor where crossed hands stomp in sequence, triggering direction changes.
Group Size: 4+ people
Difficulty: Medium
Materials: None
Playtime: 2-8 minutes
Game Description:¶
All players assume a "bank" position (leaning forward on their hands and knees) or lie on their stomachs, forming a circle shoulder-to-shoulder. The left hand is placed between the hands of the neighbor on the left, and the right hand is placed between the hands of the neighbor on the right. At the start, each player has two other people's hands between their own. The game begins: one hand starts stomping on the floor. The stomp moves from hand to hand clockwise around the circle. However, it follows the sequence of hands, not the people! If someone stomps twice in quick succession, the direction of the stomp changes. If someone misses their turn, is significantly too slow, or stomps in the wrong place entirely, that hand is out. If both of a player's hands are out, that player is eliminated, and the circle can be made smaller. The main focus of this game is the speed of the stomping!
