Good Sides
Brief Description
An appreciative getting-to-know-you game where positive qualities and skills are guessed and discussed.
Group Size: 6-30 people
Difficulty: Easy
Materials: Small slips of paper, pens, a box or basket
Duration: Approx. 10-30 minutes, depending on group size
Game Description:¶
The facilitator writes each person's name individually on a small slip of paper. Additionally, for each name, they note down two positive qualities and two particularly strong skills of that person. Older children, adolescents, and adults can and should assess themselves and write down their qualities/skills.
The slips of paper are folded, collected in a box or basket, and mixed thoroughly. Then, one slip at a time is drawn and read aloud.
The group guesses together and provides reasons to identify the person described on the slip. If the person whose slip it is wrote it themselves, they can subtly join in the guessing so as not to be identified by their silence.
Through this exercise, participants learn about their positive attributes and how accurately they assess themselves or are assessed by others.
