Human Checkers
Brief Description
A silent tactical game for two teams where players use jumps to "capture" opposing pieces or reach the baseline.
Difficulty: Easy
Group Size: 8 to 20 players, preferably an even number
Materials: None
Playtime: Approx. 4 minutes
Game Description:¶
Two teams of equal size face each other across two lines. The most important rule is: no talking during the game! One player from the team that is to start jumps forward or sideways with their feet together, never backward. Now it's the other team's turn, and a player from this team also jumps according to the same principle. The goal of this game is to "capture" all other players by jumping in such a way that you can tag another player. Alternatively, a player can jump over the opposing baseline, and their team wins the game. If a player makes a mistake while jumping (e.g., not landing on both feet, jumping backward, falling over), they are out. If two players from the same team jump in one turn, the second player to jump is out. If a player falls over or has to support themselves while attempting to tag someone, only that player is out, even if the other player was tagged. If someone falls over or takes a step out of fear of being tagged, they are out. And finally: anyone who talks or makes noise is also out.
