Characteristics of Movement Games¶
Definition¶
Small movement games are playful, joyful activities with a competitive element that develop physical and mental abilities.
Game Rules¶
There are no official competition regulations that definitively stipulate game duration, number of players, field dimensions, or the size and weight of equipment, as is the case with major sports. Instead, the game rules and progression can be modified according to the circumstances or adapted to specific pedagogical goals. It's not uncommon for the players themselves to create the game rules. Teams can be equal in number or unequal; sometimes, a single participant plays against all others.
Essential Characteristic¶
A key characteristic of small games is that they do not require a long warm-up period and can usually be played after just a few explanations and repeated as often as desired.
Naming of the Games¶
The names of the games usually stem from everyday occurrences. The name is intended to figuratively suggest the game's concept or to highlight a typical feature of the gameplay.
