Spiderweb
Brief Description
A cooperative task where the group must navigate through a rope net without reusing spaces or touching the ropes.
Group Size: 6 to 14 participants
Difficulty: Easy to very difficult, depending on the spiderweb
Materials: Several ropes or one very long rope
Playtime: 5 to 15 minutes
Game Description:¶
By tying together two or more posts, trees, or similar structures, a net is created using ropes. The net should have exactly as many spaces as there are players participating in the game, and the spaces should be large enough for one player to pass through in some way. The players must then move from one side of the net to the other, but they are only allowed to use each space once. Therefore, careful consideration must be given to who goes first and which space each person will climb through, and how. To make the challenge more difficult, players are not allowed to touch the ropes. If a rope is touched by a player, the entire group must start over, meaning everyone goes back to the beginning. For particularly well-coordinated groups, the player who touched the rope can be given a handicap. For example, their legs or arms could be tied together, their eyes blindfolded, or any other suitable modification.
