Bullfight - Tatonga

Brief Description

A circle game with a rope where a bull in the center tries to escape.

Group Size: 5 to 20 players
Difficulty: Easy
Materials: Rope
Game Duration: 5 to 10 minutes

Game Description:

The rope is tied into a circle, and all players hold onto it. One player enters the center of this circle and becomes the bull. The bull is in the arena and wants to escape, but the rope prevents it. There are two ways to play this game.

Variations:

Variation 1: The bull shouts loudly, "Tatonga!" and then tries to tag the hands holding the rope. Those holding the rope can let go to protect themselves. Hands can only be tagged as long as they are holding the rope. However, the rope must not touch the ground! If the bull tags a hand, that player becomes the new bull and enters the arena. After their "Tatonga!" shout, they also try to tag hands. If the rope touches the ground, the bull wins, and the game leader determines a new bull.

Variation 2: The game proceeds essentially the same as in Variation 1. However, if the bull tags someone, that person doesn't become the new bull; instead, they are out for this round. This means fewer and fewer players are available to hold the rope. If the rope touches the ground, the bull is free, and a new one can be chosen.
