Four-Color Tag
Brief Description
A complex color-tag game where four teams must tag, flee, and remember their order in a circle.
Group Size: 20+ participants
Difficulty: Medium
Materials: Optional colored bibs
Game Duration: Approx. 10 minutes
Game Description:¶
Participants are divided into 4 teams of roughly equal size based on clothing color. These teams form lines, one behind the other, at the edge of the playing area (so the last person sits on the edge, and everyone in front of them is within the playing field). The first person in each line then stands up and tries to tag the person wearing the color of the team immediately clockwise to their own. In this way, everyone is both chasing someone and being chased by someone else. If someone is tagged, they sit down where they were tagged, and the next person of their color stands up. This person then tries to tag the color that is next clockwise from them. This continues until all players are scattered throughout the room. Therefore, it's important for the teams to remember the order of the lines, because the game continues even then. This means if the last person in a line is tagged and sits down, the first person in that line is up again. Participants must therefore remember the order of their own group, as well as who they need to tag and who might tag them.
