What Are You Doing?

Brief Description

A theater game where depicted activities are passed on through deliberately inappropriate answers.

Group Size: 4-20 people
Difficulty: medium
Materials: none
Playtime: 10-15 minutes

Game Description:

A theater game for small to medium-sized groups.

There are always 2 people on stage, with the rest watching.

Person A begins to pantomime any activity (e.g., eating ice cream, reading a book, brushing teeth, playing soccer, etc.).

Person B watches for a while, then comes closer and asks, "What are you actually doing? / What are you doing there?"

Person A answers with a completely different activity.

Example: Person A is reading a book. B asks, "What are you doing?" A answers: "Well, I'm washing my car."

Person B: "Ah, right – got it," and begins to mime that activity.

Now A watches for a while and then asks, "What are you actually doing?" and B again answers with a different activity: "I'm doing my morning exercises."

Tips:

Preferably use the center of the stage.

Face the audience with your body.

Speak loudly and clearly.

Give the other person at least 10 seconds to mime something before you ask them what they are doing.

Allow 3-4 exchanges, then end the game. 2 new people can then come onto the stage.
