Hula Hoop Gladiators
Short Description
A hula-hoop knockout game based on the gladiators convention-game format.

Group Size: 4 to 40 players
Difficulty: mittel
Material: One hula hoop per player, marked playing area
Duration: approx. 5-15 minutes
Game Description¶
Players keep a hoop active while moving inside an arena. They try to make other players lose control of their hoop without unsafe contact.
Setup¶
- Give every player a hoop.
- Define what counts as active: waist hooping, hand hooping, or carrying the hoop in a specific position.
- Mark the arena and agree on allowed interference.
Rules¶
- All players start the agreed hoop action at the same time.
- Players move through the arena and try to disturb other players' hoop action using only the allowed contact.
- A player is out when their hoop drops, stops, leaves the field, or they use illegal contact.
- Eliminated players leave the arena with their hoop.
- The last active player wins.
Variations¶
- Use no-contact rules where players may only block space.
- Run team rounds with colored hoops or bibs.
- Require a specific hooping style for advanced players.
Safety Notes¶
Hoops can hit faces and fingers. Keep contact light and forbid swinging hoops at people.
