Human Surfing

Short Description

A team balance game where one person balances on a moving human base.

human-surfing

Group Size: 4 to 24 players
Difficulty: schwer
Material: Soft floor or grass, optional cones
Duration: approx. 5-10 minutes

Game Description

One player becomes the surfer and balances on a partner or small team acting as the board. The team tries to travel as far or as long as possible without the surfer stepping down.

Setup

  • Use a soft, non-slippery surface.
  • Agree on the allowed base position, for example crawling, all-fours, or low kneeling.
  • Add spotters for all standing-balance versions.

Rules

  1. Each team chooses a surfer and one or more base players.
  2. The surfer gets into the agreed balance position on the base.
  3. On the signal, the base moves slowly along the course while the surfer balances.
  4. The attempt ends when the surfer touches the floor, steps off, or the base position becomes unsafe.
  5. Score by distance, time, or fastest clean course.

Variations

  • Run it as a cooperative challenge: how far can the whole group get across multiple attempts?
  • Use a low kneeling version for younger groups.
  • For experienced acrobats, add turns or a slalom course.

Safety Notes

Keep the balance low unless trained spotters are present. Avoid standing on backs without proper acrobatic supervision.
