Getting to Know You with Balls
Brief Description
A simple icebreaker activity in a circle that combines names, eye contact, and clean throws.
Group Size: 4 or more participants
Difficulty: Easy
Materials: One or more balls (beanbags, softballs, or similar)
Playtime: 2-10 minutes (depending on the number of participants)
Game Description:¶
Everyone stands in a circle.
One person holds a ball. They make eye contact with another person in the group, say their name, and throw the ball to them.
Important: Only throw once eye contact has been made, the name has been said, and it is therefore clear to the other person that the ball is being thrown to them.
The throw should be made in an arc, with the throwing arm swinging from back-low to front (see also juggling with balls).
